Description
STILL SHAKING: Jim has settled back home with his family, and into his job in the engineering industry. Still experiencing difficulties with cerebral palsy, with his shaking hands and unsteady legs. He is determined to achieve his potential. Being non-reliant proves impossible, and he receives assistance and understanding from his work-mates in his first job since training at the National Spastic Society training centre. There is much jollity, and he joins in the fun, jokes and laughter. His fellow workers have a collection for Jim to purchase a typewriter, he can now write and people can read his writing!
Jim had booked a holiday with two of his friends from the training centre, and one had to cancel. He and his friend Les set-off on vocation. Their families were worried, but they were determined to have an adventure on mainland Europe. They travelled to Ostende in Belgium, also Brussels, The Netherlands and to Paris, France on coach-tours, where they were well looked after. They experienced very funny, also frightening and dangerous situations, with their quest to get girlfriends.
Auntie May and Kathleen go to the USA and Canada to visit Auntie Ellen, and experience life in the Big Apple/New York, before travelling to Canada, and visiingt old Auntie Nellie in Toronto. Cathie is determined to regain her independence and gets a job as a dinner-lady.
Thomas discovers his love, like Auntie May, for the glorious-game - football/soccer - and one team in-particular. He experiences his first Auld-Firm match with his two friends, after begging Patsy to take them on his supporters bus..
