Description
This text describes and evaluates the techniques used in receptor research. The range and scope of receptor studies becomes apparent through giving examples of the use of these techniques in overcoming problems of receptor identification in the brain and other tissues. Measurement of receptor action is done directly and also indirectly, through cellular expression of receptor activation by appropriate ligands. The role of the receptor in physiological and pathological states is also discussed in the book. The emphasis is on how receptors can be used to tackle a problem, rather than studying the receptor per se.
