LISA SÁNCHEZ GONZÁLEZ is a professor, scholar and folklorist. Her essays have appeared in scholarly journals and anthologies. Among her awards and nominations, she received an international appointment as a Fulbright Scholar in American Studies in 2000. Sánchez González is the author of Boricua Literature: A Literary History of the Puerto Rican Diaspora (NYU Press, 2001) and The Stories I Read to the Children: The Life and Writing of Pura Belpré (Centro Press, 2013). A Professor of English at the University of Connecticut, Sánchez currently teaches courses in American, Caribbean, and western literary history.
