Description
The speed with which data must be collected and the complexity of its analysis have made computers an absolute necessity in the neurosciences. This book presents methods that range from the collection of neurophysiological data, through the control of laboratory equipment, the recording and identification of pulses, spikes and bursts, to cartographic methods and analysis of immunocytochemical and confocal microscopic data. The book describes the analysis of the kinetics of gene expression, receptor binding, behavioural data, graded potentials and fast axonal transport, and physical analysis. Modelling and simulations are presented for calcium oscillations and the IP3- sensitive calcium channel, ion gating, membrane potentials, individual neurons and neutral networks.
