The magical creatures of A Game of Thrones and beyond come to life in a 2020 calendar inspired by George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, featuring illustrations by acclaimed artist John Howe.

Fantastic beasts are not solely the purview of Newt Scamander. Such creatures also abound in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels-one of the most successful and beloved fantasy series ever written. And who better to bring these creatures to life than acclaimed artist John Howe, who has built a huge reputation for his stunning work in Middle-earth? Here are sphinxes and krakens, sea dragons and ice spiders-a thrilling panoply of creatures both real and legendary . . . and some a bit of both. Now in its tenth year, this annual calendar is a timely addition to a franchise that has continued to grow with each passing year.

George R. R. Martin is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of many novels, including the acclaimed series A Song of Ice and Fire--A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, and A Dance with Dragons--as well as Tuf Voyaging, Fevre Dream, The Armageddon Rag, Dying of the Light, Windhaven (with Lisa Tuttle), and Dreamsongs Volumes I and II. He is also the creator of The Lands of Ice and Fire, a collection of maps from A Song of Ice and Fire featuring original artwork from illustrator and cartographer Jonathan Roberts, The World of Ice & Fire (with Elio M. García, Jr., and Linda Antonsson), and Fire & Blood, the first volume of the definitive two-part history of the Targaryens in Westeros, with illustrations by Doug Wheatley. He lives with the lovely Parris in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

John Howe is a Canadian illustrator best known for his work based on J. R. R. Tolkien's worlds. Howe and noted Tolkien artist Alan Lee served as chief conceptual designers for Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie trilogies, and he also re-illustrated the maps of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion. In addition to his Tolkien-related work, he has illustrated the fantastic worlds of Robin Hobb and Anne McCaffrey, among many others. Howe is the author of numerous how-to books on fantasy art. A Song of Ice and Fire 2020 Calendar is his second foray into George R. R. Martin's Westeros; he illustrated a limited edition of A Clash of Kings in 2005. He lives in Switzerland.
