Reviews / Votes
Purcell and Blow are clear influences, especially the latter, yet there are nods to earlier traditions too, and the six-part texture with its emphasis on the higher parts and its rhythmic intricacy is reminiscent of Weelkes' scoring, though without the rugged wildness. It is remarkable that this is the first publication of Turner's rewarding work, which should now find many more adherents. Webber's introduction is academic in tone and content, but informative too. * Matthew Greenall, The Singer, June 09 *More details
