Four Inventions

Watkins' "Four Inventions" sind das Ergebnis von Gesprächen des Komponisten mit dem Schriftsteller Rhett Griffiths, der das Werk über sein Gedicht "The Sibling Solution" in Auftrag gegeben hat. Das Gedicht liegt dem Werk bei und kann vor dem Musizieren laut vorgelesen werden. Jede der Inventionen behandelt einen Aspekt der "engen Verwandtschaft" von Dingen mit den Titeln Declamatory, Hesitant, Breathless und Serene.
Watkins' "Four Inventions" wurden erst kürzlich im BBC Radio 3 im Rahmen eines Porträtkonzerts im Vorfeld der Welturaufführung seines Violinkonzerts bei den BBC Proms 2010 übertragen. Ein ideales Werk für aufstrebende Pianisten, das sich sowohl für Konzerte als auch für Vorspiele eignet.

Watkins' 'Four Inventions' evolved from the composer's conversations with writer Rhett Griffiths who commissioned the work about his poem "The Sibling Solution". The poem is included with the publication and may be read aloud before the music. Each of the inventions deals with an aspect of the "siblingness" of things with the titles Declamatory, Hesitant, Breathless and Serene.

Watkins' 'Four Inventions' were recently broadcast on BBC Radio 3 as part of a portrait concert prior to the world premiere of his Violin Concerto at the 2010 BBC Proms. An ideal work for aspiring pianists and suitable for both recitals and auditions.
