Description
This inspired collection of 22 songs for children aged 3-5 years is a brilliant resource cast in the same mould as Voiceworks. The authors have drawn on their unrivalled experience of working with young children to create a songbook which can be used by all practitioners, whether or not they are music specialists, in every Early Years setting. There is plenty of hands-on advice; each song is accompanied by concise notes which guide the leader through selecting a song and singing it, and there are also suggestions for extension activities including movement and playing instruments. With an emphasis on empowering the practitioner and encouraging children to embark on their own vocal and musical adventures, the material in Voiceplay is structured to support a range of different situations and requirements, and links directly into the foundation stage six areas of learning.
The children's book is also available separately.

Reviews / Votes
Voiceplay is an appealing collection that grew from the authors' experiences as 'musical mothers' running music-making activities in their own homes. It is therefore no surprise to find it practical and well matched to the needs, understanding and aspirations of children aged three and over . . . The mixture of attentive listening and imaginative response is simple and admirable'. * Tom Deveson, Music Teacher , April 07 * OUP has a winning formula with its Voiceworks series. Each volume is a valuable resource full of attractive songs in a wide variety of styles designed to capture the imagination of young singers. And, if my recent experience of adjudicating school and community choirs at local festivals is anything to go by, children really enjoy performing Voiceworks items . . . A hallmark of the Voiceworks series is that every book is a complete teaching resource with photocopiable pages, excellent teaching notes full of practical help and ideas for learning and performing each item, as well as much sound technical advice on how to encourage children to sing well and enjoy themselves. * Christopher Field, Music Teacher, July 2007 *More details
