Portable Synchrotron Light Sources and Advanced Applications

Synchrotron radiation has led to many innovations in material and life sciences. The construction of huge facilities such as SPring-8 was a trend in the 20th century. Recently, big efforts have been made to downsize the light source. It is expected that powerful portable X-ray sources will change the paradigm of the X-ray business and open up completely new research fields that were impossible before.
