Description
This interactive CD-ROM, produced to mark the centenary of cinema in Australia, lists all the Australian feature films from 1896 to the present. It provides information on more than 1100 films, hundreds of photographs and 25 film clips. Detailed background information is provided by six Australian academics. Ina Bertrand and Bill Routt write on early Australian feature films (1895-1930); Bill Routt discusses "the fairest child of the Motherland"; Felicity Collins explores the years 1930 to 1970; Tom O'Regan covers the 1970s; John Slavin examines the 1980s; and Tom O'Regan writes about the 1990s. Six shorter commentaries providing a narrative of the role of film in the broader cultural life have also been included, as well as a listing of sources for the study of film in Australia.
