Description
This machine-readable database aims to record and annotate all significant Welsh writing about art, including the applied and decorative arts, in both English- and Welsh-language publications. Comprising almost 1500 records, it emphasises post-1945 literature, the bulk drawn from 50 or so Welsh periodicals. In addition, all the Welsh Arts Council exhibition catalogues are listed, as are the art exhibition catalogues from the National Museum of Wales (plus the small number on aspects of Welsh art published outside Wales). It is mounted on Read-only Cardbox-Plus, with a bibliographical record in the form of a "card" divided into various fields. Records are retrievable via these fields, so that the database allows searching in a number of useful ways: by author; subject; date of publication; title of publication; title of periodical; language of publication; document type; and, in the case of catalogues, by the issuing gallery or sponsoring body. "Artwel" comes with the full Cardbox-Plus Read-only manual and a practical guide explaining use of the database.
