Previously, Patti worked in her hometown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In addition to her private practice, she began working part-time at Planned Parenthood in Sioux Falls performing abortions. She closed her private practice in September of 1996 to work at Planned Parenthood full-time, leaving one year later.
