Description
Rational RoseaA A is the leading modeling tool in the field of system development and is used worldwide. The tool is based on UML (the Unified Modelling Language), the modeling language that has been established as a world standard. Now you can learn ROSE on a CD-ROM! Interactive Introduction to Rational RoseaA A is a course that describes how to use Rational RoseaA A and explains the various working methods of the tool. The course is geared for anyone from web developers, project managers and database modellers to system analysts and system developers. The course provides you with basic knowledge of the tool as well as its advanced functions and approaches. Theoretical sections are combined with practical ones, creating a varied and stimulating learning environment. You work in a simulated environment where you are given the opportunity to become familiar with the tool Rational RoseaA A . Interactive Introduction to Rational RoseaA A also includes two case studies giving you a comprehensive idea of how the different diagrams fit together. In the first case study, you are guided through the various aspects of working with Rational RoseaA A and in the second there are practical exercises that you can complete in the actual tool Rational RoseaA A itself (the tool is not included in the training package).
Interactive Introduction to Rational RoseaA A takes approximately 7 hours (effective time) to complete, but you can go through the different sections at your own pace. You are given the opportunity to refresh your memory and test previously acquired knowledge before you finally receive a diploma with your name and grade. Interactive Introduction to Rational RoseaA A has been designed based on solid educational models that not only stimulate and attract an audience but also make the learning process more effective - by up to 70% compared to traditional instructor-led courses. It is not only our own studies that reveal this fact; the Institute for Defense Analysis in the USA (1998) has conducted an extensive study that indicates that students in the test group remembered 25%-50% more compared to traditional methods. System Requirements Operating systems Windows 95, Windows 98 or NT 4.0 (or later).A sound card and a minimum screen resolution of 800*600 are also required.

The course contains 11 sections that can be completed in any order. They include: Test and syllabus Here you can put your knowledge to the test and are provided with a proposed syllabus, tailor-made to suit your needs. You do not have to follow it but the syllabus can be helpful when you decide the order in which to go through the different chapters. If you already know how the tool works and want to brush up on your knowledge, this section is useful since it will help you to identify and fill potential gaps in your knowledge. Exam When you have passed the exam, you will receive a personal diploma and a grade reflecting the level of your performance. The diploma will also include the number of roses you have collected during the course of the program. Introduction to Rose In this chapter, you are given an introduction to the course along with a brief history, explanation of basic concepts and navigational directions. You will be introduced to Miss. Rose, your guide throughout the course. Revising UML This chapter gives summary information about UML in order for you to brush up on the basic elements of the modeling language. Basics about the interface How does ROSE relate to RUP and UML? Here the connection between the modeling language, the process and the tool is revealed. You will, for example, be guided through the tool bar, different menues and diagram windows with the assistance of Miss. Rose, whose guidance and support is available to you throughout the course. Diagram types *In this chapter, we take a look at the different UML diagrams in the tool: *Use Case Diagrams *Class Diagrams *Sequence Diagrams *Collaboration Diagrams *State Chart Diagrams *Activity Diagrams *Component Diagrams *Deployment Diagrams Case study 1 - Structural thinking This chapter consists of a case study where you will be taken through a previously defined development project. You will construct a new system and learn how to go about doing that in practice. Case study 2 - Application This chapter consists of a case study where you will, for example, produce different diagrams based on the description of a ticket booking system. The exercise is carried out in the actual tool Rational RoseaA A itself. Code generation This chapter describes code generation, mapping and different settings. The concept of Reverse Engineering is also explained. Advanced functions In this section, you will learn about the more advanced functions in the tool. Among other things, you will learn how to create your own icons for stereotypes as well as how to integrate and compare models. You will also learn how to render your models in HTML-format and how to define your own value sets. Game - Roses and Gardens The objective of this game is to perform the tasks that you are given by Miss. Rose before your time is up and the roses have grown too high...
