Description
Take a creative approach to problem-solving and reasoning skills! 'Mathematical Art' focuses on reasoning and creating mathematical pictures. It contains five activities, each of which has several pictures to discuss with the whole class. There is also one pupil screen for the whole task, and this screen enables pupils to construct pictures similar to those they have seen and to work on the problem of area ratios. The curriculum content of this task is properties of shapes (mainly quadrilaterals and regular shapes) and area theorems for triangles and special quadrilaterals. Solving the problems involves work with fractions and ratios. There are some optional challenging work on ruler-and-compass constructions.
