De/colonizing Theologies

This volume emerges from the research project of the International Network of Societies for Catholic Theology (INSeCT), which from 2021-2024 explored the theme A People of All Nations: Decolonizing Theologies, Decolonizing the World. Bringing together theologians from diverse contexts-including the Philippines, the Congo, Europe, and beyond-it critically examines how colonial legacies continue to shape theology, the Church, and global society. Contributors analyze the political, economic, cultural, and ecological dimensions of colonialism while constructing theological frameworks that challenge entrenched power structures and envision alternative, liberative futures. Rooted in the Catholic tradition yet attentive to global polyphony, the essays move beyond simplistic condemnations or apologetics to highlight ambivalent, complex, and creative practices of faith in colonial and postcolonial settings. Featuring both scholarly studies and autoethnographic reflections, the volume offers fresh resources for decolonizing theology and for reimagining the Church as a living, intercultural tradition.
