Infant Index: Checklist/Profile

This is an easily administered rating scale for use in the first half-term of school entry. It provides a standardized screening procedure to identify and monitor those children at risk of having or developing special educational needs, as well as a numerical "baseline" for evaluating subsequent progress. The profile describes individual strengths and weaknesses which can be related to class or school performance, and helps to pinpoint areas where special individual or whole-class provision may be appropriate.
