Ismail Albayrak is a professor of Qur'anic studies at the Australian Catholic University. He taught and wrote on Qur'anic studies, classical exegesis, contemporary approaches to the Qur'an, interfaith dialogue and orientalism. He has research interests in the place of Muslim communities and their activities in a globalizing world. In November 2008, he was appointed to Fethullah Gulen Chair in the Study of Islam and Muslim-Catholic Relations at Australian Catholic University.
