George C. Williams is recognized internationally as a leading authority in the study of evolutionary biology. His book Adaptation and Natural Selection, published in 1996, has had an enormous influence on evolutionary thinking. His other books include Sex and Evolution, Natural Selection: Domains, Levels and Challenge and (with Rudolph Nesse) Evolution and Healing: The New Science of Darwinian Medicine. Dr Williams is Professor Emeritus of Ecology and Evolution at the State University of New York.
