Thinking with the Spirit

This first volume of the Pentecostal Collaborations series contends that Pentecostal theology is a vital resource for Christian living and ministry in the contemporary context. Written as a collaborative effort between graduate students and Pentecostal scholars, it introduces a Spirit-focused approach for thinking about key topics related to biblical studies, theology, and missiology. Chapters consider a wide range of topics, such as the Holy Spirit and racial reconciliation; faith formation amid Western secularization; Spirit baptism and Pentecostal triumphalism; Pentecostalism and reading Scripture; Pentecostal implications of Rev 2:1-7; biblical inspiration in view of the Holy Spirit; missiology and Pentecostal ecotheology; shalom and intercultural conflict; and the role of eschatology in Pentecostal missions. Ultimately, the authors hope to show how one's understanding and experience of the Holy Spirit can significantly benefit how one thinks about God, Scripture, and God's mission in the world. If successful, Thinking with the Spirit will nurture an interest in Pentecostal studies for strengthening faith and empowering Christian witness for the twenty-first century.
