Lin Xie is a Software Engineer, SolidWorks Corporation, Concord, Massachusetts. The author or coauthor of more than 26 articles, Dr. Xie received the B.Sc. (1985), M.Sc. (1987) and Ph.D. (1996) degrees in mechanical engineering from Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, Liaoning, People's Republic of China.
Kiyoshi Funatani is a Consultant at IMST Institute, Nagoya, Japan. The author or coau-thor of nearly 300 professional publications, Dr. Funatani is a Fellow of ASM International and the International Federation for Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering (IFHTSE). A member of SAE, SAE (Japan), the Japan Society of Materials Science, the Japan Institute of Metals and the Japan Society of Heat Treatment, among other organizations, Dr. Funatani received the B.S. degree from Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan, and the Ph.D. degree (1970) from Tohoku University, Sendai, Miyagi, Japan.
