As more races side with the Humans, the threat of war grows closer. Captain Seloutean, unsure who to trust after the Truthseer spied on her for the Elven Council, seeks an unlikely ally.
Jack Jar'ryd, a young Islander native to the Belissian Coastal Archipelagos, joins the Human Army when they promise to eradicate the Elves. But he grows fearful when the Humans unleash a dark and deadly force close to the Belissian borders.
Prince Ezell, the once-crowned Prince of the Ez, is now exiled from his people. Fleeing from Human forces, Ezell finds an offer of assistance in the Northern County, but it comes with a price.
And as each race decides to stand with the Elves or Humans in the looming war, a long-dead maencer, conjured by the dark power of Necromancy, is making preparations of her own.
