Divided into two section - it deals with the origins of the Charter; its signatories and supporters; its purposes and methods; and its reception at home and abroad; and provides an extensive account of the clauses and documents of Charter 77. This book will be beneficial to students and researchers of international relations, European history, political history, European studies, international politics and human rights.
Reviews / Votes
"The student and the general reader alike will welcome Professors Skilling's book. The short but crammed history of the Charter cannot be understood without reference to the numerous documents of the Chartists that have streamed out since its inception, but for people in the West these documents are hard to obtain and are often untranslated. Skilling has an extensive personal collection and seems to have studied a high proportion of the rest... his discussion in Part I is accurate and comprehensive. Part II collects many important documents written since 1976, most of which we're headed to unavailable in english."-K. V. Wilkes, Government and Opposition, Vol. 17, No. 3 (SUMMER 1982), pp. 369-377 (9 pages)

The file format PDF always displays a book page identically on any hardware. This makes PDF suitable for complex layouts such as those used in textbooks and reference books (images, tables, columns, footnotes). Unfortunately, on the small screens of e-readers or smartphones, PDFs are rather annoying, requiring too much scrolling.
This eBook uses Adobe-DRM, a „hard” copy protection. If the necessary requirements are not met, unfortunately you will not be able to open the eBook. You will therefore need to prepare your reading hardware before downloading.
Please note: We strongly recommend that you authorise using your personal Adobe ID after installation of any reading software.
