Vicki Scott grew up in a small country town, one of seven children. She left school at 14 years, left home at 17 and moved interstate. From 18-21 years she was personal assistant to two Governors-General.
After marrying a Navy pilot, she followed her husband around the country on various postings. During these years, they had two children and Vicki worked part-time in a variety of businesses.
Returning to work fulltime, Vicki's roles included executive officer to Dr Lowitja O'Donoghue, Chairperson of ATSIC; project manager of Corroboree 2000 where 250,000 people walked over the Sydney Harbour Bridge in support of reconciliation; and director of CHOGM Coordination for Queensland Government whose responsibilities included security and traffic management for 53 heads of government.
In 2008 Wendy Watego and Vicki co-founded a not-for-profit foundation delivering Indigenous leadership programs throughout the country for twelve years.
She has 5 grandchildren.
