Rajendra Akerkar is a professor/senior researcher at the Western Norway Research Institute (Vestlandsforsking), Norway. His research and teaching experience includes over 20 years in the Academia spanning different universities in Asia, Europe and North America. As founder, he is instrumental in ensuring that the Technomathematics Research Foundation (TMRF) lends a platform for research in India. Under his leadership, TMRF has become one of the well-known organizations amongst the research community worldwide. His current research agenda basically concentrates on learning and language - how each works in the human and how they can be replicated in a machine. He received DAAD fellowship in 1990 and also awarded prestigious BOYSCASTS Young Scientist award of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, in 1997. He is an Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Computer Science & Applications, and Associate Editor of International Journal of Metadata, Ontologies and Semantics.
