Cormac Russell is an internationally renowned thought leader, trainer and speaker in Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD). He has published extensively in professional journals on Asset-Based approaches to Probation, Ageing Well, Community Housing, Community Development in the Global South and Disability.
Cormac is the Managing Director of Nurture Development, an ABCD training, research and consultancy organization that has worked worldwide with Governments, NGOs, and Communities since 1996. He is also as faculty member of the ABCD Institute, Northwestern University, Illinois, and Director of ABCD Europe.
Cormac -a long time friend and collaborator with Professor John McKnight - is passionate about curating the 'back-story' of Asset-Based Community Development and the next chapter. This is the first in a series of books he is authoring on the subject.
Cormac is father to five boys, and is married to Colleen. Their family home is in Dublin, but they are currently spending a year as a family in Gloucestershire. Over the course of the last twenty of years, Cormac has supported the establishment of over 30 ABCD learning sites in Rwanda, South Sudan, Kenya, Canada, Sweden, Ireland and the UK. He is driven by a passionate belief in the importance of localism, economic and environmental sovereignty, and is a strong advocate for the protection of indigenous living and social justice.
