It is the year 2039. On January 19th an explosion ripped through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia unleashing a virus killing over 60 million people in just 3 weeks.
Enter Timothy Meek, a loner, and sufferer of Mysophobia (fear of contamination and germs.) Meek believes that the government's "cure" Project Red is not all it's cracked up to be. His condition certainly doesn't help things as he systematically closes himself off from the rest of the world; sealing himself in his apartment using plastic sheets and duct tape.
Now, Meek waits all alone in his apartment; his grip on reality loosening, while the rest of the world waits for the cure. The sky will run red with blood but will the human race survive?
Timothy Meek is a short story that can also be found in the collection Time & Space Vol. 2 by the same author.
