Continuous technical developments of radiological imaging techniques have not only improved the potential of organ-based radiological diagnostics, but now also allow for dedicated whole-body exams which may be used in the field of screening and preventive diagnosis. The concept of this book is to provide clinicians with a broader understanding of screening and preventive diagnosis using radiological imaging. The first part of the book is dedicated to the fundamentals of screening and preventive diagnosis, and will comprise chapters on epidemiology and pathology, technical and organizational aspects of radiological screening, and chapters on legal issues and cost-risk analysis. The second part of the book will discuss the most important practical examples of radiological screening and surveillance, both for unselected populations, as well as for individual risk groups.
Reviews / Votes
From the reviews:
"This is an ambitious book that seeks to report on the current status of screening, covering the latest innovations in imaging. . This book would be worthwhile for those involved in public health decisions regarding coverage for screening imaging services as well as referring doctors confused about which imaging studies should be ordered for a healthy screening population. The book covers fundamentals of screening, including epidemiology and statistics, and pathology." (Edward I Bluth, Doody's Review Service, April, 2008)
"This multi-authored book is an extremely useful and timely contribution to the radiology literature. . The book covers clinical, pathological, statistical and ethical issues in addition to the technical aspects of screening itself. As such it will be a valuable addition to many department libraries and will be read profitably not just by interested radiologists, but also clinical colleagues who are involved in screening patients. . I can highly recommend it to all readers." (Dr Arpan K Banerjee, RAD Magazine, June, 2008)

The file format PDF always displays a book page identically on any hardware. This makes PDF suitable for complex layouts such as those used in textbooks and reference books (images, tables, columns, footnotes). Unfortunately, on the small screens of e-readers or smartphones, PDFs are rather annoying, requiring too much scrolling.
This eBook uses Watermark-DRM, a „soft” copy protection. This means that there are no technical restrictions to prevent illegal distribution. However, there is a personalised watermark embedded in the eBook that can be used to identify the purchaser of the eBook in the event of misuse and to provide evidence for legal purposes.
