Sleeping with the Enemy
Description
When James sees Andrew at a gay coffee shop, the attraction is immediate. They exchange smiles and Andrew makes friendly overtures, so they go for a walk and end up at Andrew's apartment. As they begin spending time together, James's friends are supportive but cautious. One of the men Andrew has been seen with in the coffee shop was a known Republican supporter. James dismisses the dark implications of this, carefully avoiding any talk of politics with his new boyfriend.
Then James's friend Glen makes a horrible discovery while visiting Andrew's place with James: Andrew has a MAGA cap hidden in his chest of drawers. He takes a picture of it and confronts James with the evidence. James has fallen in love, but he knows he faces a terrible hurdle. Can he love a man who apparently is a member of the hateful MAGA movement?

Person
Academically, I have trained in several sciences and done research in them, publishing a number of scientific papers. I have also worked in various office jobs in the computer engineering field, where I found that cubicle life did not suit my temperament at all. In between these occupations I have also written articles and stories for several local and international community (LGBTQI) periodicals, co-authored a biography of a 19th Century historical figure, and published several novella-length stories in the erotic romance genres.
While all things interest me, from the physical functioning of our world and engineering control systems of all sorts, to the neurons that direct action in the brain, what particularly fascinates me is the manner in which our actions are directed by the mysterious functioning of the human heart.
