Since the publication of the first edition, radiotherapy has continued to advance rapidly, with significant developments in treatment delivery technologies, imaging for radiotherapy, treatment planning methodologies, dosimetry techniques and quality assurance practices. In response to these developments, the second edition has been carefully reviewed and updated. Existing problems have been refined, solutions have been strengthened and expanded where appropriate, and selected content has been revised to better reflect current clinical practice and evolving standards.
One hundred and forty-seven solved problems are presented across ten chapters covering core topics, including External Beam Therapy Equipment, Photon Beam Physics, Radiation Dosimetry, Treatment Planning for External Beam Radiotherapy, and External Beam Commissioning and Quality Assurance. The problems are designed to illustrate and augment the underlying theory, while reinforcing fundamental principles to enhance learning and information retention.
This book forms part of a four-volume set of medical physics problems and solutions. The companion volumes address diagnostic imaging physics, nuclear medicine physics and radiation protection.

Persons
Kwan Hoong Ng, PhD, DABMP, FIUPESM, received his MSc (medical physics) from the University of Aberdeen and PhD (medical physics) from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. He is certified by the American Board of Medical Physicists. Professor Ng was honoured as one of the top 50 medical physicists in the world by the International Organization of Medical Physics (IOMP) in 2013. He also received the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Award in 2018. He has authored/co-authored over 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 40 book chapters and co-edited 15 books.
Ngie Min Ung, PhD, FMAMP, MIPEM, MIPM, obtained Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering and Master of Medical Physics from the University of Malaya. He then completed his PhD at the University of Western Australia. Professor Ung is actively involved in medical physics teaching and research activities. To date, he has authored/co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed academic journal papers and supervised more than 10 research PhD and master students to completion.
Robin Hill, PhD, FACPSEM, FAIP, MAAPM received an MSc (Medical and Health Physics) from the University of Adelaide and PhD from the University of Sydney. He is actively engaged in radiation oncology medical physics research, teaching and clinical activities including volunteer involvement in IAEA projects and supervising postgraduate students. Dr Hill has authored/co-authored more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is accredited in radiation oncology medical physics by the ACPSEM.
