This e-book contributes to expressing the need to bring home the child and to express EL's centrality in training &quote;the effective executive&quote; (Drucker, 2004). While the EL and OL concepts are related certainly, EL focuses on acquiring multiple experiences, knowledge, and abilities (MEKA) at the individual level of executive training. EL covers topics ranging from (A) accurate sensemaking of contexts (Weick, Sutcliffe, & Obstfeld, 2005) ; (B) valid assessing of own and firm's prior plans, actions, and outcomes; (C) recognizing/creating valuable and doable opportunities and avoiding mistakes (i.e., mindfulness, Weick & Sutcliffe, 2006); (D) making seemingly easy-to-tough decisions well (Nutt, 1993) and crafting doable plans to implement these decisions; (E) ability to overcome the forces-of-inertia to enact necessary and effective firm-level transformations (Christenson, 2007; Huff & Huff, 2000; O'Reilly & Tushman, 2007); (F) efficient actual implementation of seemingly easy and &quote;tough decisions&quote;; (G) accurate auditing of recent implemented management plans-actions-outcomes-while OL does the same at the relatively arms-length stance of the firm and institutional levels.
