Evocative writer Sean Monaghan's crisp short fiction touches the senses and warms the heart.
Explorer Cale Talmer must climb his grandmother's old macrocarpa pine. Somewhere among the shrill bird calls and the stickiness of the sweet smelling sap on his fingers, and the creak of branches, his elusive friend Eva waits.
The secrets she hides might just make the tough climb worth it.
An odd, gripping and tense tale that touches on family and fantasy, with just a hint of bad weather to come, ready to sweep readers up from start to finish.
