Person
In 2015 No Outsiders in Our School: Teaching the Equality Act in Primary Schools was published and Andrew began training schools in using the resource to teach community cohesion. In 2016 Ofsted rated Parkfield Community School as 'Outstanding' and recognised No Outsiders as a key strength. In 2017 Andrew was awarded an MBE for equality and diversity work in education and in 2019 he was listed as a top 10 finalist in the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize.
Andrew's work made national headlines in 2019 as it became the focus of protests against the inclusion of LGBT equality in primary schools. As a result, No Outsiders gained a national reputation; Andrew was listed in the Attitude Pride Awards 2019 and named Role Model of the year 2019 by Pink News. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Worcester and was named Hero of the Year in the 2019 European Diversity Awards.
Andrew continues to work full time as Assistant Headteacher at Parkfield Community School. He is founder and CEO of the No Outsiders charity and is also studying part time for a PhD at the University of Birmingham.
