David W. Macdonald CBE FRSE is Professor of WildlifeConservation at the University of Oxford. Founder and Director ofOxford's Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU), and aFellow of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. In addition to hisconservation research, he is heavily involved in the practice andpolicy of conservation, and is also known through his films andbooks on wildlife.
Katherine J. Willis is the Tasso Leventis Professor ofBiodiversity at the University of Oxford, Director of the OxfordMartin School Biodiversity Institute (BIO) in the Department ofZoology, and a Fellow of Merton College, Oxford. She is also anadjunct Professor in Biology at the University of Bergen, Norway.Her work within the Biodiversity Institute falls under three keyresearch areas: biodiversity beyond protected areas; ecological andevolutionary processes responsible for biodiversity; andbiodiversity technologies. She is also heavily involved in thedevelopment of smartphone and web-based decision support tools tofacilitate the transfer of knowledge on biodiversity science andecosystem services into conservation, management and policy.
