Gene Lockhart's life reflects a deep commitment to faith, service, and music.
He began his career at Western Electric's Oklahoma City Works as a service accountant, later moving into cost accounting and overseeing thousands of weekly paychecks. Though successful, he felt called to more meaningful work and joined the Oklahoma City Fire Department, where he faithfully served and found lasting purpose. Through both triumph and hardship, his dedication to helping others never wavered.
Music became a central expression of his faith. Beginning in college choirs, Gene sang in church for nearly fifty years, offering solos for worship services, funerals, and weddings. As a founding member of the Future Life Singers, he and his rich bass voice blessed congregations across Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. Since 1983 he has faithfully served at Faith Church in Oklahoma City in the choir, quartets, the praise and worship team, and Sunday School, as well as being an usher.
His lifelong devotion to Scripture led him to write Am I Ready? More than a study of Revelation, the book's defining feature is its alphabetically organized topical index of Scripture. Designed for both seasoned believers and new readers, it allows users to quickly find passages on assurance, faith, grace, forgiveness, hope, salvation, and more. Practical and accessible, the book encourages personal exploration of God's Word and calls readers to live prepared, grounded in biblical truth, and ready for eternity.
