Description
This is a comprehensive overview of bionanotechnology to students in nanotechnology, biotechnology, bionanotechnology, related fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, and materials science and also everyone who is interested in this research area. It describes the definition of bionanomaterials, how they can be synthesized, characterized and applied in different fields. The current status and future of bionanotechnology, as well as its advantages and limitations, are comprehensively discussed throughout the book. This is an entry-level book which is easy for readers to understand its contents.
In this book, we tried to identify the definition of bionanotechnology. Briefly, Bionanotechnology is the emerging research field that comes from the intersection of nanotechnology and biotechnology. Nanotechnology is referring to the design, development, and application of materials which at least one dimension at nanometer scale meanwhile biotechnology is developed based on knowledge about living systems and organisms to create or improve different products. The association of nanotechnology and biotechnology pave a way to develop a hybrid technology with unique features. Thus, this novel technology will be used to improve our living standard in different aspects from developing new medicine, food, and functional cosmetics, introducing new methods to analyze and treat cancer to protect environmental problems.More details

Prof.
Young-Chul Lee
received his Master and PhD degree in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute & Science Technology (KAIST), Daejeon in February 2006 and 2011, after obtaining his Bachelor degree in Department of Polymer Science & Engineering from Pusan University in 2004. From 2011 to 2013, he was a post-doctoral researcher in Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Chosun University and Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, KAIST, Korea. From March 2013 to March 2014, he worked as a research professor in Research Institute of Industrial Science & Technology, Inha University. He joined as an assistant professor in the Department of BioNano Technology, Gachon University from April 2014. Dr. Lee's research interests are inorganic-organic (nano)particles for biological and environmental applications using unique nanoparticles such as carbon dots, aminoclays, and photocatalysts entrapped in hydrogels and 2D layered materials, etc.
Ju-Young Moon
is currently working as a director at the International Association of Beauty Arts Education, who has earned a bachelor's degree in beauty art at Wonkwang University and a master's degree at the Graduate School of Integrated Medicine at CHA University. Her research focus is on cosmeceuticals, especially on cosmetic products with bioactive ingredients in medically effective plant phenolics.
