Person
Dr. Shukla holds Distinguished Professorships at several prestigious universities, including Delhi Technological University, Delhi, India, and Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Engineers Australia, as well as a Life Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and the Indian Geotechnical Society.
Dr. Shukla has made significant contributions to academic literature, authoring/editing 28 books and publishing over 320 research articles. His widely acclaimed textbooks, Core Principles of Soil Mechanics and Core Concepts of Geotechnical Engineering are extensively used in geotechnical courses and have ranked #1 on Amazon. In 2024, he received the Distinguished Honour from the Consulate General of India, Perth, in recognition of his outstanding academic contributions to Geotechnical Engineering.
Dr. Shukla has received several prestigious awards, including the 2021 ECU Aspire Award and the 2018 IGS Award from the International Geosynthetics Society, USA. His groundbreaking contributions, such as the generalized expressions for seismic active thrust (2015) and passive resistance (2013), along with the innovative Shukla's wraparound reinforcement technique, developed during 2007-2008, are recognized as a sustainable ground improvement method for strengthening foundations. These contributions have become integral components of engineering education worldwide and are widely applied by engineers globally. In addition, Dr. Shukla is regularly invited to deliver talks and short courses worldwide and is frequently approached by researchers and practicing engineers for his expertise in adding value to practical engineering solutions.

System requirements
File format: PDF
Copy-Protection: Adobe-DRM (Digital Rights Management)
System requirements:
- Computer (Windows; MacOS X; Linux): Install the free reader Adobe Digital Editions prior to download (see eBook Help).
- Tablet/smartphone (Android; iOS): Install the free app Adobe Digital Editions or the app PocketBook before downloading (see eBook Help).
- E-reader: Bookeen, Kobo, Pocketbook, Sony, Tolino and many more (only limited: Kindle).
The file format PDF always displays a book page identically on any hardware. This makes PDF suitable for complex layouts such as those used in textbooks and reference books (images, tables, columns, footnotes). Unfortunately, on the small screens of e-readers or smartphones, PDFs are rather annoying, requiring too much scrolling.
This eBook uses Adobe-DRM, a „hard” copy protection. If the necessary requirements are not met, unfortunately you will not be able to open the eBook. You will therefore need to prepare your reading hardware before downloading.
Please note: We strongly recommend that you authorise using your personal Adobe ID after installation of any reading software.
