Mahdi Karkush is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Baghdad, and has served as the President of the Iraqi Scientific Geotechnical Society (ISGS) since 2018. He earned his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Babylon in 1995 (ranking 3rd), his M.Sc. in Civil Structural Engineering in 1998, and his Ph.D. in Civil Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Baghdad in 2008. Prof. Karkush began his academic career at the University of Babylon (1999-2008) before joining the University of Baghdad, where he continues his teaching, research, and professional activities.
