Out of the Flames picks up where Into the Flames left off, describing the ups, downs, challenges and triumphs that transitioning presents. In many respects, it is the Yang to Into the Flames' Yin, the positive to the negative, the light to the dark. Reflecting on how a person adjusts and settles into a new gender role, Stephanie discusses the importance of offering help and guidance to those embarking on their own journeys of transition, and of passing on knowledge gained from her own experiences.
Humorous and heartfelt in equal measure, Out of the Flames is a story with hope at its core. Written from the perspective of an individual who has successfully negotiated the NHS gender pathway, it aspires to show the reader that despite how dark and difficult things can get, there's always a way through, always a way to climb back up and start living a full and contented life.
