Michael Brainin is Professor of Clinical Neurology at theDanube University in Krems, Austria, where he chairs the Center ofClinical Neurosciences. He is head of the Department of Neurologyat the Landesklinikum Donauregion, a university affiliated teachinghospital. Since 2005, he also acts as director of the Department ofClinical Medicine and Preventive Medicine at the Danube University.His main scientific interests focus on cerebrovascular disordersincluding early treatment and rehabilitation. Up to 2004 he chairedthe EFNS Scientist Panel on Stroke and now acts as Executive Memberof the European Stroke Initiative, the International Stroke Societyand the World Stroke Federation. In the World Stroke Federation healso chairs the Professional Education Group.
Nils Erik Gilhus has been a Professor of Neurology atUniversity of Bergen and a consultant Neurologist at HaukelandUniversity Hospital since 1987. He is chairman of Department ofClinical Medicine, University of Bergen, and was Faculty Dean2003-2005. His main research interest is neuroimmunologicaldisorders. Professor Gilhus is since 2005 the chair of thescientific committee of the European Federation of NeurologicalSocieties, and he is a member of the management committee ofEuropean School of Neuroimmunology and World Federation forNeurorehabilitation.
