In the second chapter of the Pillars of Balance trilogy, we will discover new myths (dokkaebi and inmyeonjo) and meet new characters, experiencing an adventure that combines oriental mythology and fantasy in a narrative full of twists, magic, and humanity.
Haen-gul: "Sorry if my death might slow you down, Gungsang. I'll try to die without bothering you."
Hyun-gu: "Do you want to die by my hand?" he asked angrily. "Fine. Then I'll do it with my own hands. The hands of a friend who has never stopped believing in you and in our friendship." He clenched his fists, raising his voice again. "The hands of Jung Hyun-gu, not the samjokgu you now insist on only wanting to see. And so you will go by the hand of a friend. I won't give you the satisfaction of being killed by a samjokgu, however you want to look at it."
After their confrontation with the fearsome King of the Gumiho, Ryeong-ho, the company led by Gungsang takes refuge in an ancient temple, where the atavistic bond between the gumiho and the samjokgu Hyun-gu is tested by a cruel seal and an inexorable deadline: one hundred days to redeem himself, or die.
While Ryeong-ho resists food and words, consumed by a past he refuses to reveal, Hyun-gu struggles between duty and friendship, knowing that any choice he makes could forever tear the soul of the creature he once called brother.
Around them, the members of the company intertwine in a delicate balance: Daeng, poisoned by mangosa, desperately searches for a lost memory; Jamira keeps watch in the shadows; Kang faces the burden of being a construct, while Haen-gul hides an unexpected loyalty beneath a mask of indifference.
As time passes inexorably, Gungsang, in his attempt to save Ryeong-ho and Daeng, will face numerous dangers and obstacles, and fears he never knew he could experience.
