[Logic of Prayer
Reflections From an Interdenominational Perspective]
Do prayers help? Christians believe that they do not pray in vain. Does God work in us or is prayer rather to be understood as a self-reflective performance of the inner person? Why should one persevere in prayer if he or she doesn't experience God's answer? Theologians from seven different denominations present their view on forms and intentions of their specific tradition. Those enquiries do not only touch the credibility of one of the most essential Christian practices, but they also concern the heart of the Christian faith and understanding of the Divine. In order to understand the logic of prayer, one has to discuss the underlying systematic theology, differentiate between liturgical and historical approaches and justify its external reasonableness.
