"This book fills the gap in the market to use literature for language teaching as it offers a rich source of references to all the main genres of literature and a great variety of creative and inspiring activities to understand and analyze these texts and improve learners' language skills. It is a great asset for both teachers and students of literature and language classes."- Prof Dr Nazife Aydınoglu , Final University, Girne, North Cyprus

"The book written by Prof. Griffiths is designed both for English language teachers and learners. In the first section, the theoretical background provides the readers the essential knowledge that prove the potential of literature to promote intake by providing cognitively and affectively engaging authentic comprehensible input which expands cultural horizons and contributes dynamically to the learner's complex and developing language system. In the second section aims to extend literary repertoires which can be orchestrated as appropriate to a particular audience, occasion or context, and the subsections are organized according to genre.
The final section focuses on using literature in the language classroom. First principles for an integrated approach to using literature to learn/teach language (the L3 approach) is explained, followed by an example of a possible lesson or lesson model for each of the 12 genres included in this book. Being a teacher trainer/ educator for a long time, I always had worries about how to train teacher candidates on the integration of literature in their future classes. With this book now I feel more confident on the issue. Thank you, Carol for this great work."

System requirements:
- Computer (Windows; MacOS X; Linux): Use the free software Adobe Reader, Adobe Digital Editions, or any other PDF viewer of your choice (see eBook Help).
- Tablet/Smartphone (Android; iOS): Install the free app Adobe Digital Editions or another reading app for eBooks, e.g., PocketBook (see eBook Help).

The file format PDF always displays a book page identically on any hardware. This makes PDF suitable for complex layouts such as those used in textbooks and reference books (images, tables, columns, footnotes). Unfortunately, on the small screens of e-readers or smartphones, PDFs are rather annoying, requiring too much scrolling.
This eBook uses Watermark-DRM, a „soft” copy protection. This means that there are no technical restrictions to prevent illegal distribution. However, there is a personalised watermark embedded in the eBook that can be used to identify the purchaser of the eBook in the event of misuse and to provide evidence for legal purposes.
