Person
Now nearly one hundred and one years old, he spent 59 of those years in
southern Africa, and 15 years in the medical service of The Federation of
Rhodesia and Nyasaland. For many years he worked in the rural areas,
where major surgery was often his daily task.
He developed a love for the country and an affection for the people. He
began to understand the local African customs, and he studied the local
language, eventually passing the advanced written and oral exams, and was
able to talk to his patients in their own tongue.
