George F. Pinder, PHD, is the Director of the Research Centerfor Groundwater Remediation Design and also a Professor of Civiland Environmental Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics, andComputer Science at the University of Vermont. He has served on theeditorial board of numerous journals including the InternationalJournal for Numerical Methods in Fluids. He has publishedextensively in the fields of groundwater flow and transportmodeling and has written on the use of such models in combinationwith optimization methods in addressing problems of environmentaloptimal design.
William G. Gray, PHD, is a Professor of Environmental Sciencesand Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.He has over thirty years of research and teaching experience inenvironmental modeling and the physics of flow in porous media. Hehas published widely on various aspects of environmental modelingand simulation and has served as editor and on the editorial boardsof leading journals in his field. He is a Fellow of the AmericanGeophysical Union.
