Eric Emerson, Ph.D., is Professor of Clinical Psychology atthe Institute for Health Research at Lancaster University, UK.Prior to this, he held posts at the Hester Adrian Research Centreat the University of Manchester, the Tizard Centre (University ofKent at Canterbury) and the South East Thames Regional HealthAuthority, and as a clinical psychologist in the UK and Canada. Hehas written several books and over 140 articles in academic andprofessional journals on issues related to supported accommodation,challenging behaviour and health/social care services for childrenand adults with intellectual disabilities.
Chris Hatton, Ph.D., is Professor of Psychology, Healthand Social Care at the Institute for Health Research at LancasterUniversity, UK, having previously held research posts at the HesterAdrian Research Centre, University of Manchester, UK. He haswritten or edited several books and almost 100 articles in academicand professional journals on a range of issues concerning peoplewith intellectual disabilities, including the assessment of servicequality, supported accommodation, staffing issues, and theexperiences of people with intellectual disabilities and theirfamilies from minority ethnic communities in the UK.
Travis Thompson, Ph.D., is Executive Program Director ofthe Minnesota Autism Center and Professor, Department ofPediatrics, University of Minnesota School of Medicine,Minneapolis, USA. He has published 24 books and more than 240articles, chapters in journals and monographs. He has served onnumerous national and international committees concerned withresearch, ethics, and policy. His research has focused on theenvironmental and biological factors underlying the challengingbehaviour of people with developmental disabilities, includingcommunication, architectural design, and genetics variables.
Trevor R. Parmenter, Ph.D., holds the Foundation Chair ofDevelopmental Disability in the Faculty of Medicine, and theAdjunct Chair in the Faculty of Education, at the University ofSydney, Australia. He is the Director of the Centre forDevelopmental Disability Studies in the Royal RehabilitationCentre, Sydney. His former positions include Professorial Fellowand Director of the Unit for Community Integration Studies atMacquarie University, Australia, prior to which he held teachingand administrative positions in the New South Wales Department ofEducation and Training. Currently, he is the Immediate PastPresident of the International Association for the Scientific Studyof Intellectual Disabilities. His publications include 80 articlesin professional journals and 45 book chapters in the areas ofdisability policy, quality of life, dual diagnosis, and vocationaltraining.
