Our addiction -- our insatiable need for content, connection, and clever gadgetry occupies our immediate attention, but little time is spent thinking about where we are taking it, or better yet, where it is taking us. DISCONNECTED is a thought provoking, and hopefully entertaining, journey with a little earthly self-reflection... The story's very gifted characters, navigate a society in the not-so-distant future where life revolves and evolves around energy, communications, and most importantly -- connectivity. Politics, work, school, and life's basic necessities become enmeshed in the Internet's successor -- the Plane. Populations around the world are interconnected like a herd of antelope on an annual migration; some are left to the edges, or allowed to stray too far behind. For those that do, the world is none too kind. An ambitious plan to colonize Mars in the year 2045, may be just what is needed to help sort out technology's role in the evolution of human civilization.
