They're mortal enemies, but love may prove stronger than war.
In 52 B.C. Rome has just conquered Gaul...
Leonidas Vorenus, the commander of Rome's elite Sixth Legion, is gravely wounded in an ambush by rebellious Gallic peasants. With his medic killed in the skirmish, Leonidas must rely on a local healer to save him. There's only one problem ? she's his sworn enemy.
Under pain of death, Solange is forced to tend the very man who's just subjugated her people. She might hate him and all he stands for, but she values every life, even that of a loathsome Roman.
The two are forced together as Solange tends Leonidas's wound. But as the days pass, Leonidas begins to appreciate his healer as more than simply a slave to serve him. She is smart, kind, and achingly beautiful. Solange, in turn, discovers her patient is more than just a hardened warrior. He's a strong, disciplined man, capable of honor even when dealing with a conquered foe.
Bound by duty, divided by war, this is a steamy enemies-to-lovers romance of hard-won love.
