Combining the first three books of Ruby and Nolan's Great Adventures in Space will introduce you to the Weller family and friends. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone book, but it is fun to follow the kids as they fall into one adventure after another as they journey on the bumpy road to adulthood.
When a family takes a leap of faith, it can be the adventure of a lifetime or a disaster! The Wellers leap is six light years to an uninhabited planet in another galaxy. Ty and Robin, their two kids, Ruby and Nolan, and Pebbles, their dog, love the adventure of traveling by spaceship via wormhole to New Earth! Upon landing, the parents are busy building a community of like-minded, strong individuals. Ruby and Nolan are home-schooled and thus have time to imagine adventures in their play fort constructed similar to the old-west stockades.
One of their weekly chores is to check the Solar panels on the hill behind their house. After their one-hour climb, they are shocked to see two of the panels broken and the posts bent to the ground. Nolan discovers a pretty rock and insists they take it to their fort to study it for a science project! The trip down the hill with the rock in the basket made of branches is slightly tumultuous when Ruby falls and loses her grip on the rope, and Nolan makes the magnificent dive head first and grabs the rope! Ruby documents the changes with pictures and measurements!
They discover what they are studying is not a rock but an egg! And not just any old egg! It hatches and isn't the pony that Nolan wants or a big chicken, but a Dragon!
They discover that dragons inhabit the northern part of the planet. They are strong, intelligent, friendly, and quite advanced. They speak the language of the settlers and can cloak their bodies. Do ya think that is why none of the probes reported seeing them?
The young dragon bonds with Nolan and Ruby, and they name him Donzereli after a family friend. Ruby, Nolan, Bonnie, Shamus, and Dr. Rodney Allen, who is a kid in an adult's body, seem to fall into more adventures than they intend.
Donzereli hatches a plan to fly all four kids to his home. Dr. Allen bribes his ride and is in as much hot water as the kids when Donzereli's parents confront them. They all love the Sky Mall and shop till they drop!
When the kids learn their parents are on their way to take them home for punishment, they sink into deep depression. So Donzereli takes them on a VIP deep-sea fishing trip! It is great fun until they are netted from the boat and are kidnapped by the Others! They love the Amusement Park at the Others' Keep, but darn, the parents keep rescuing them too fast for punishment!
Wasn't this supposed to be an "uninhabited" planet? One has to wonder how many different beings inhabit this world.
My eternal thanks to the Weller family for allowing me to publish these stories.
These books were created out of desperation while searching for Christmas presents for our two young friends, Ruby and Nolan, who were growing up. One summer, we parked our Motor Home in their yard for several weeks, and we had a blast playing with them. It was kind of like reliving having our children with us again.

Person
Writing Science Fiction gives my mind wings and allows me to fly away into the unknown, and sometimes create weird people and places. One does not have to be a scientist and delve into the inner workings of Space Ships to write about the people that command them. It is a good thing because I am no scientist, nor do I want to be. What makes writing fun is turning the implausible it believable, funny, and sexy; creating worlds and races of people that change the normal into the unknown.
