Finishing up a shakedown cruise following a long refit, Dath Raker, captain of Tenacity, is ready to rejoin the fight against the Star Empire of Golgotha. The last thing he expects is orders to rush to the furthest reaches of the galactic frontier to answer a distress call from a Golgothan colony.
The rim of the galaxy is no man's land. The Golgothan-settled world, Thulia, has a sparse population, little industry, and few defenses. They stand little chance when a mysterious fleet appears at the edge of their star system and begins a ruthless assault. And their own people are hundreds of parsecs distant.
Dath Raker is known and despised throughout the Star Empire. But he's the best hope Thulia has.

Born too strange for a normal world, K.J. Coble endures adulthood through long-distance running, rock 'n' roll guitar, and his writing. A love of history, weird fiction, and explosions fills his world-building. In his stories the righteous may suffer, but the corrupt get their comeuppance, and evil always receives its justly-deserved kick in the teeth.
Lairing somewhere in the Midwest, he is tolerated by his wife, three kids, and a very opinionated coonhound.
