Description
For many, the wages of interplanetary peace will be as deadly as the wages of war.
The Grand Galactic Alliance, bled white by nearly three years of civil war, has collapsed into dysfunction and fascism. The breakaway Union of Free Stars eyes them uneasily across newly-established borders. The chatter across the space lanes is of treaties and armistice. But no one trusts it yet.
The Hell's Jesters have become a liability for all. They know too much of both sides' crimes, too many politicians' secrets. And now an old enemy resurfaces to seek vengeance, armed with a private fleet and a homicidal AI that knows the Jesters better than they know themselves.

Born too strange for a normal world, K.J. Coble endures adulthood through long-distance running, rock 'n' roll guitar, and his writing. A love of history, weird fiction, and explosions fills his world-building. In his stories the righteous may suffer, but the corrupt get their comeuppance, and evil always receives its justly-deserved kick in the teeth.
